Greece - passenger vehicle

General Rental Information

The renter and the driver must have a valid Greek, European (for E.U. countries) or international (for countries that do not belong to the E.U.) driving license issued for at least three years.

 

A driving license of non-Latin Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc.) must be complemented by an international driving license.

 

A driving license from countries not included in Geneva / Vienna Convention on road traffic (e.g. China), an official translation of the license in English must be presented along with the original one.

 

Please have a valid ID card or passport when picking up the car!

 

Special rental information by booking of prepaid rates

 

Changing booking

 

A booking can be changed up to 24 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for a charge of 15,00 euro. Any payment that has been already made towards the rental will not be refunded, nor shall any differential amount shall be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.

 

Cancellation

 

Booking cancellations will not be accepted. In case the renter chose not to take the vehicle he/she is liable to pay the reservation in full.

 

No show

 

In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the renter is liable to pay the reservation in full.

 

Age restrictions

 

In greece, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver’s license:

23 years old/3 years for vehicle groups: MCMR, EDMR, CCAR, CCMN, CCAN and CCMR.

25 years old/3 years for vehicle groups: CDAN, CDMR, CDAR, CWMR, IFMR, IDMR, IDAD, IDAR, IDMN, SWMR, SDMR, SDAR, FDMR, PDMR, PDAR, SVMR, SVMD, FDMR, FFMR, FVMR, FVMD, IFMN, ITMR, XDAR, XDMR, XFAR and XFMR.

 

CONDITIONS OF PAYMENT

 

Flexi tariff

 

We accept all credit cards from internationally recognized credit card companies - such as American express, Diners club, Eurocard/MasterCard, Visa.

 

We do accept prepaid cards or debit cards.

 

Third party credit cards are not accepted.

 

To hire one of Sunbird cars, customers must present on, at least, a valid credit card.

 

Prepaid Tariff

 

We accept all kinds of credit card, debit cards, or prepaid cards.

The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit/debit card. The authorized driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended.

The confirmed credit/debit card should be valid and available for presentation upon the collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur, during the car rental, will be charged to this credit/debit card.

By booking of a prepaid rate, the credit/debit card will be charged before the start of the rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit/debit card comprises the rental as well as additional extra fees.

The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed such us, e.g. C.D.W, GPS, etc.) plus value added tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.

 

Generally

 

The total rental amount must be prepaid and CDW protection has to be taken.

 

An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security deposit.

Total rental, plus excess and one full tank.

 

Please note, that payments with credit/debit cards may require the PIN of the credit/debit card.

 

General Protection Conditions

 

Third party insurance

Protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum over of EUR 1,000,000 for personal injuries, and EUR 1,000,000 for material damages.

 

Excluded of the protection is the use of the vehicle for transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void. In particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver’s license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

 

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Collision Damage Waiver, partially, removes the driver’s responsibility due to vehicle dysfunction in case of damage, provided that traffic laws were not contravened (i.e. violation of red light or STOP sign, illegal overtaking, driving under the influence of alcohol etc.).

 

If Collision Damage Waiver is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the damaged car. If the Collision Damage Waiver is accepted the customer is only responsible for the following amount:

EUR 450,00 for all types of Sunbird cars.

 

Delivery & Collection

 

During or out of the opening hours

Free of charge at Sunbird’s Headquarters in Imerovigli village, Santorini Airport , Santorini Port , or any hotel in Santorini.

 

National

 

In case of ferrying the cars between Greek islands, all insurances are not valid during the transportation of the car and the renter has to return the car to the pick-up station stated at the reservation form, otherwise all transportation costs will be charged to the renter.

The protection does not cover any costs of transporting the vehicle back to the mainland. In case of damage or an accident it is the renter’s responsibility to arrange the transport of the vehicle back to the Sunbird Headquarters (Imerovigli Santorini Cyclades Greece) and bear any costs involved in this.

 

International

 

International rentals are not allowed.

 

Cross border rentals & territorial restrictions

Cross borders Rentals are not allowed.

 

Extras

 

Baby seat: 4,00 euro per day

Child-seat: 4,00 euro per day

GPS: 8,00 euro per day

Action camera: 8,00 euro per day

 

Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.

 

Additional driver

 

An Additional Driver Surcharge of 2,00 euro per day applies.

 

Refueling charge

 

The car will be provided with a full tank of fuel and must be refilled prior to car return, otherwise a charge of fuel will be paid by the renter. In addition if the car will not be provided with a full tank of fuel, the renter must return it at the same level as he/she collected it or more, otherwise a charge of fuel will be paid by the renter.

 

Other fees and taxes

 

Vehicle Cleaning

In case the car requires a biological cleaning procedure (i.e. animal hair, sand etc.) after returning, a charge of 80,00 euro will be applied.

In case of any other damage incurred by the renter (e.g. burns, etc.) there will be relevant charges according to the type of damage.

 

Loss or damage of keys:

In case of loss or damage of car keys during the rental, the driver is liable for the total repair cost.

 

Not show fee

In case the renter fails to collect the vehicle on the rental start date and time without any written or telephone conversation, Sunbird will cancel the reservation, and the renter is liable to pay in full the cost of the reservation.

 

Removal of license plates

 

In case of removing the license plates because of a traffic offence, the renter will be charged for the disuse of the vehicle.

 

Administration fee for fine

 

The renter is liable for payment of all traffic/parking fines accruing during the rental. In case the renter does not pay the fine(s) and Sunbird intervenes to the procedure, up to EUR 50,00 will be charged additionally to the fine’s cost as Administration Fee.

 

The Athens Courts of Law are responsible for resolving any problems or doubts of service that might occur.
